Reconnecting with your body

Episode 58 of S’ouvrir à l’amour marks the beginning of a series of 4 episodes in which I will share techniques that will help you reconnect with your body or help your body release its stored emotional surplus. Be careful, these methods do not allow you to deprogram your recorded reaction patterns, which is what we do during the Day of the Past with the psycho-corporal approach. You can listen to episode 3 where I explain this to you in more detail.

If you have health problems or often have intense emotional waves, it means that your body has lost trust in your ability to be part of its team whatever the external circumstances. It therefore needs, in a way, to trust you again. I explain it in more detail in my book S’ouvrir à l’amour, et si la solution se trouvait du côté du nerf vague?

This requires you to recreate a ground of trust between your body and you

Your body must acquire the certainty that you are there for it and that it does not need to go into survival mode for you to take care of it.

It is a bit as if you became the parent for your body by reassuring it that you take its needs and limits into account and that it knows you are there for it.

This act of giving your body its trust back is a major step in developing the qualities of the heroine because if you cultivate these qualities through the body they are intrinsically more anchored.

So how do you give your body its trust back ?

  • Your body needs to know that you keep your commitments. If you decide something for your body’s well-being, honor this commitment and do it
  • Your body needs to know it is safe.  Is your body sending you warning signals that you ignore (fatigue, stress, anxiety…) ? If so, make sure you listen to these signals as soon as they appear.
  • Your body needs to feel respected in its needs. Do you take the time to connect with your body several times a day to know how it is doing ? Are you in excess (work, alcohol, food, sport) or do you regularly take care of your body (care, diet, medical visits or well-being…)
  • Your body needs to feel loved. What dialogue do you have toward it ? Do you defend it when people make fun of it ? How do you show it that you love it ?

Tool 1 The body check-in. Ask your body every 3 hours how it is doing ? What does it need (drink, eat, sleep, pee..) ? What is the emotion of the moment ? This will help you feel your inner barometer throughout the day.

Tool 2 Welcoming your uncomfortable emotions. Where do you feel them in your body ? Colors, sensations, lumps, intensity ? Are you able to name the emotion ? For this you can use the emergency meditation from EP 35.

Tool 3 Adding body routines to connect to your body (breathing, yoga, sport) what matters is the intention of connecting to your body rather than the desire for performance, which sometimes goes through not listening to the body.

Tool 4 The Breathwork breathing technique that I presented to you in EP 21 because too much emotional storage clouds your connection to the body because you have rather sought to avoid feeling. The second psycho-corporal approach that I practice during the Day of the Past also helps you to “empty” this storage.
