194. À part égales: How to Set a Fair Budget as a Couple?
Money is a major source of conflict in couples — and often the measures taken end up impoverishing women. It is a subject I see coming up regularly in my work with couples, and one I wanted to address with a true expert. I invited Marie-Lahya Simon, author of Ils vecurent heureux et prirent un compte commun (Editions Eyrolles) and host of the podcast A Parts Egales, who tells — with a lovely touch of humour — the stories of couple budget discussions (you know what I mean, darling?!). In this episode, we explore:
- How to calculate a fair contribution when incomes are different
- Why common financial arrangements in couples often penalise women
- How to talk about money as a couple without conflict
- The most common mistakes and concrete solutions
