Unlike red flags, which should alert you about the person you&#8217;ve met, green flags are &#8220;indicators&#8221; of a relationship that&#8217;s healthy, fulfilling, and supportive of both need a safe and healthy relational space, meaning a space where you have the following green flags:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A <strong>secure person<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Commitment and mutual trust<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <strong>ability for each partner to be introspective<\/strong> in order to change their own personal impact on the relationship<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Non-violent communication<\/strong> to talk about your emotions, your needs, your feelings about the relationship.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A <strong>positive view of the couple and of the other person<\/strong>,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A <strong>team spirit, the desire to grow together<\/strong>, and to support each other in achieving your dreams.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These green flags apply to all your relationships.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can also listen to the 7 class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3ebd431 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Gottman Institute, in their book &#8220;The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work,&#8221; mentions 5 criteria that make <strong>a person secure<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A secure person <strong>lets you feel like an equal<\/strong>, rather than making you feel like their parent or their child.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A secure person <strong>is stable over time<\/strong> instead of being inconsistent.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A secure person <strong>has empathy<\/strong> and acts accordingly, rather than only caring about themselves.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A secure person wants to mature and grow and <strong>can admit when they&#8217;re wrong<\/strong>, whereas an insecure person avoids working on issues or admitting their mistakes because they believe they&#8217;re perfect.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A secure person <strong>is willing to earn your trust<\/strong>, whereas an insecure person demands it without earning it.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A secure person <strong>can respect your no and honor your boundaries.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3925078 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_Do_You_Apply_This_to_Dating\"><\/span>How Do You Apply This to Dating?&lt;\/\n<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-056e442 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You might tell me, &#8220;That&#8217;s all well and good, Sandy, but that kind of setup never happens to me, so what do I do?&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These conditions need to become your non-negotiables, not only in a relationship but also in the dating process, in a &#8220;make it or break it&#8221; way, meaning you need to assess, through actions (not just words), whether the person in front of you is capable of offering you that framework.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This also means paying attention to what you personally bring to the relationship, in particular (I talk about this in <a href=\"https:\/\/sandykaufmann.ch\/fr\/93-et-si-cetait-toi-le-red-flag\/\">episode 93, What If You Were the Red Flag<\/a>?):<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Honestly assess your impact on the relationship.
